Founding and growing your own company is by far the biggest challenge I have set for myself ever. Each day takes you to a rollercoaster of emotions, through good and bad times, navigating your way across waters. Some days, you get great news that makes it all totally worth it.
I have been communicating European funded research since 2013 and created Sparks & Co to help humanity tackle some of its biggest challenges through better communications of our collective findings and innovations. Early 2018 I received big news for me and the agency: the European Commission has appointed me as an expert evaluator to one of the new H2020 workprogramme calls! These calls aim to raise awareness about research, dispel stereotypes about researchers and entice young people to take up a research career in the future among other goals, so being chosen is a great honour for me and for the company. With more and more focus being placed on communication and stakeholder engagement in H2020 calls it will be a great experience to really contribute to bringing great proposals to life through turning them into approved projects!
Being selected as an expert evaluator for this year’s call is a major recognition of our expertise by the European Commission and I couldn’t dream of a better motivation to start this new year. Now more than ever, Sparks & Co is committed to helping research making an impact on society. We do believe more up-to-date, more innovative and creative communications will change how citizens engage with science and how much of an impact your innovations can have on our future.
